CAMERATINA LTD is a registered charity in England and Wales (Charity Registration No. 1203870). Our purpose is to advance public education and appreciation of the art of opera. It serves the public by promoting operatic performances and support young artists in achieving artistic excellence.

 

We are the Data Controller for the personal data we hold about you. This means we are responsible for deciding how and why your personal data is used, and for keeping it safe.

 

We are currently exempt from paying a fee to the ICO (Information Commissioner's Office).

2. Personal data which we collect

 

We may collect and hold the following categories of personal data:

 

• Full name, first name, gender, and pronouns

• Contact details (email address, mobile number)

 

Where we support individual artists (beneficiaries of the charity), we may also collect:

 

• Role and performance specialisms

• Career history, training, and professional achievementsDetails of support received from the charity

• Photographs and audio/video recordings

• Biographical information provided by you for publication

• Social media handles or professional website links

 

3. Why we hold your data and our lawful basis

 

We use your personal data for the following purposes:

 

• Maintaining our records of members, donors, guests and supporters.

• Maintaining our records of artists we have supported. It is in our legitimate interests to maintain an accurate history of the charity’s work.

• Publishing information and photographs of our performances, news updates and personal stories on our website and social media. We will always seek your specific written consent before publishing any personal stories, personal photograph, or other personal information about you.

• Sending you updates about the charity's news and activities. We will only contact you for this purpose if you have opted in.

• Responding to your enquiries.

 

4. Your consent and the right to withdraw it

 

Where we rely on your consent to process your data — in communicating with our members, donors, guests and supporters, or before publishing any article or content about you — we will ask you to confirm your agreement in writing. You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us at the address above.

 

Withdrawing your consent will not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before you withdrew it. It will mean we cease communicating with you or publishing any new content about you, and we will discuss with you what should happen to any content already published.

 

5. How long we keep your data

 

We keep personal data only for as long as it is needed for the purpose for which it was collected:

 

• Member, donor and supporter records are maintained as long as you continue to support the charity. plus six years thereafter.

• Beneficiary records are retained for the life of the charity as a historical record of our charitable activity.

• Consent records are retained for as long as any published content remains live, plus six years thereafter.

• Contact and mailing list data is reviewed annually and deleted if you have withdrawn consent.

 

6. Who we share your data with

 

We do not sell your personal data. We may share it in limited circumstances with:

 

• Third-party platforms used to operate our website and social media channels. These act as data processors on our behalf and are subject to appropriate contractual obligations.

• Other organisations or publications, but only with your explicit prior consent.

 

7. Your rights under UK GDPR

 

You have the following rights in relation to your personal data:

 

• Right of access: You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you (a Subject Access Request).
